We have started growing many of our own herbs in the form of micro herbs in many of the venues we cater for in Central London. Why:
- Reduced Food Miles and Waste:
Growing your own microgreens significantly cuts down on the distance food travels from farm to table, reducing the carbon footprint associated with transportation. Additionally, you can harvest only what you need, minimising food waste.
- Sustainable Indoor Gardening:
Indoor gardening allows for precise control over the growing process, enabling the use of sustainable practices like organic fertilisers, natural pest control, and water conservation.
- Minimal Water Usage:
Microgreens typically require less water than mature plants, contributing to water conservation efforts.
- Pest and Disease Control:
Indoor growing environments can be more easily controlled to minimise pest and disease issues, potentially reducing the need for pesticides.
For 25+ years we have been on a journey to incrementally reduce our environmental impacts, this has recently been recognised, we are finalists in the sustainability award for caterers. Other initiatives include:
