In early 2021 we planted an initial 300 trees in Dorset, all native varieties, predominantly Ash, Birch, Oak, Alder, Hawthorne, Holly, Field Maple, a selection of Willows, Field Cherry, Blackthorne, etc. Using the Treeconomics tree calculator, these trees are now beginning to capture significant amounts of carbon. See below for the carbon capture profile of a Rowan tree.

Every year since we have continued to plant trees; this year, we are going to plant a further 232. The average tree in the UK absorbs 25kg of CO2 pa, which equates to 65kg of CO2 pa, or 0.65 metric tons. There is a caveat. As you can see from the attached pictures, our trees are relatively immature; they are most likely not yet trapping this quantity of CO2.
We are on a journey; we have worked to transparently reduce our environmental impacts year on year. Be it measuring the travel miles in our supply chain or reducing food waste in conjunction with Too Good to Go
For a more detailed list of the 22 benefits of trees see this fantastic article from the tree people, alternatively see the fantastic work our partners at Cavendish Venues are doing in this space.
