How We Are Working To A Carbon Negative Future
At Mayfair Catering, we’re committed to sustainability. We offer plant-based alternatives, source responsibly, use eco-friendly packaging, recycle all waste, and power our operations with green energy – recognised by Rainforest Alliance and Green Tourism.

Sustainable Menus
We rewrite our menus every quarter to ensure they are as sustainable as possible. As part of this process, we quantify the seasonality of our menus by using the Vegetarian Society’s guide to seasonal produce. Additionally, we measure the transport miles attached to our menu items. This has led to some notable changes: for example, our English-only wine lists.

Food Waste
Working with recycling specialist First Mile are on a to reduce food waste and our menus have been designed and redesigned with this in mind. We recently moved to the classic French buffet rather than the so-called Russian Service, as recent research indicates this reduces food waste (see our blog post). We have partnered with First Mile who offer recycling avenues for all our waste streams – details on our news page. The majority of our fruit and veg comes from Angry Monk supplier of rescued and irregular produce that would have otherwise gone to landfill. Any excess food we produce is given away at cost via the app Too Good to Go.

Zero Landfill
Working with recycling specialist First Mile, we have established recycling streams for all of our waste be it coffee grinds or food leftovers. We regularly publish full details about the % we are recycling. In Q4 2024, we won a First Mile gold award for our recycling.

Transport Miles
As specialist London event caterers, we have kitchens as close to our clients as possible, two kitchens in the West End (Oxford Circus and Bond Street) and two in the Square Mile. This means that we can deliver the freshest possible food to our clients (standing time in the back of lorries is reduced). The majority of our food is delivered on foot; and for slightly longer journeys we’re currently testing the use of delivery bikes.

Energy Use
We monitor all of our appliances (such as fridges and freezers) to ensure that they are working at maximum efficiency. We only use Green Energy.

Our Food
Our poultry, eggs and dairy can be traced through the supply train to British farms. We will never knowingly buy foods containing GM ingredients. We have eliminated palm oil from our supply chain, a major contributor to deforestation. Our tea and coffee is certified Fair Trade. Add milk? For plant-based milk alternatives, we choose Alpro. B Corp certified, committed to zero impact operations and made from sustainably sourced soya beans.

Fresh Ideas
In 2025 we introduced home-grown herbs to our kitchens. The vast majority of the fresh herbs we use in our catering are now grown on site.

Carbon Footprint
We plant a new tree for each booking or a mature tree for each 100 bookings. See here for the respective benefits.

We are certified under the Rainforest Alliance scheme Green Tourism certification programme.
